Firemen Still Trying to Put Out Flames in Pasar Senen

43 fire trucks and 300 firemen still continue to put out the flames on the second floor of Block II, Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, Thursday (1/19) morning.

But if it is not monitored, fire will grow up again, which is why we keep spraying water

Based on beritajakarta.com, Pasar Senen area still covered by thick smoke. There is no more peddlers who try rescuing their merchandise like some time ago.

Head of Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Dept., Subejo disclosed, based on the information gathered, fire came from the ground floor and quickly spread to second floor through cable or pipe. Until the news published at 8.45 AM, flames is still difficult to be extinguished.

"This is already yellow, means decrease in intensity. But if it is not monitored, fire will keep growing up, which is why we keep spraying water. Until now, the cause is still unknown," he stated at the location.

He continued the flames spread faster because of the narrow market hallway, as well as flammable objects and piles of merchandises inside. Surely it makes the firemen overwhelmed.  

"We've spread our officer on all sides of the market," he told.

Thus far, the data of fatalities and casualties as well as material loss is still unknown.
